Galicia Destino Sostible

THE WINE OF THE RÍAS BAIXAS

  • DAY 1. Starting Point – Galicia:

Departure from chosen starting point towards Galicia (travel expenses borne by the client). Arrival at the hotel, dinner, and accommodation.

Day 2: Rías Baixas D.O. (Designation of Origin): breakfast.

Our first destination is Cambados, the capital of Albariño wine, nestled in the Salnés valley. We will first enjoy a scenic walk with our local guide through the village of Cambados, where we will see the Pazo de Fefiñanes and numerous palatial mansions.

Our next stop is the Ethnographic and Wine Museum of Cambados (entry included), located in one of the most emblematic spots of this village, next to the ruins of Santa Mariña Dozo. As Galicia’s pioneer wine museum and one of Spain’s earliest, it offers an immersive journey through the history, art, popular culture, and all the aspects of the viticulture of the Rías Baixas D.O.

After the visit, we will head to a renowned Albariño D.O. Rías Baixas winery. Here we will go for a walk through the vineyard, exploring the viticulture of the Rías Baixas, the vine, and the history of Albariño wine – a fundamental part of the culture and tradition of the region – delighting us with the nature of these spectacular surroundings. This will be followed by a guided tour of the winery, where we will explore the winemaking process, culminating in a tasting of 2 wines. We will then return to the hotel for lunch.

After lunch, we will visit O Grove, a fishing village famous for being the ‘Paradise of Seafood’. We will cross the bridge that will take us to La Toja island, known as a celebrity vacation hotspot and for its thermal tradition. Following our scenic tour of the island, we will head to the O Grove fish market. Here, we will observe sea professionals bringing in their day’s catch, which is then weighed, labelled, and boxed in preparation for its later auction, that is, until the first sale takes place.

Afterwards, we will travel to the port for a cruise in the Arousa estuary (ticket included). We will visit the ‘bateas’, which are floating platforms for cultivating mussels, and experience a fabulous tasting of these molluscs and wine on board.

Return to the hotel, dinner, and accommodation.

DAY 3: Galicia – Starting Point: breakfast. Our services conclude here.
