Hotel Semáforo de Bares

A Coruña | Mañón

The Hotel Semáforo de Bares is located in northern Galicia, in Ortegal, one of the most unspoilt coastal areas of the Iberian Peninsula. It’s housed in an old military building erected in the 1920s, whose function was to communicate with ships using flag signals. It was also a military observation post and meteorological centre. It’s located very close to the cape and lighthouse at Estaca de Bares, at a higher altitude, 210 m above sea level, just at the entrance to the Ría do Barqueiro. It was in use until the late 1960s. Subsequently, at the end of 1990 and the beginning of the present century, it was rehabilitated and converted into a charming nature hotel where stone and wood are combined in all the building’s rooms, with living nature all around and further than the eye can see. This hotel is designed for guests to relax and unwind; therefore, only bookings for adults are permitted. It’s not a hotel suited to families, and neither are pets allowed.
